Earl M. Harris, 81, of 135 Dark Hollow Road, Erwin died Friday, May 28, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Harris was a native of Gastonia, NC and had lived in Tennessee for most of his life. He was a son of the late Robert and Edith Harris. Mr. Harris was the owner and operator of the Earl Harris Heating and Air Conditioning Co. He was a member of the Grace Free Will Baptist Church in Johnson City and a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. Mr. Harris was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Unicoi Lodge F and AM. He was also a former Boy Scout Leader. He is preceded in death by: his parents; and his wife, Virginia Hughes Harris in 1993. Survivors include: one son, David E. Harris of the home; one daughter, Dolores and husband William Edwards of Erwin; his fiancée, Doris A. McCall of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Earl L. Breon, Jr., Matthew J. Edwards, Robert M. Harris, and Michael R. Harris; Special friends, Doris Cox and Dallas Johnson, both of Johnson City; one sister-in-law, Jeanett Buchanan of Indian Head, Maryland; one nephew, Michael Buchanan also of Indian Head, Maryland. The family of Earl M. Harris will receive friends on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 8 PM in the North Chapel on Tuesday with Rev. Allen Thomas and Rev. Jackie Cole, officiating. The committal service will be at 10 AM Wednesday, June 2, 2010 in the Roselawn Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 AM Wednesday for that service. Full Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Army Reserve. Honorary pallbearers will Claude Luttrell, Dallas Johnson, William Edwards, and Roger Tinker.
