Earl Otis Byrd

Earl Otis Byrd, Jr., age 80, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Byrd was born in Telford, Tennessee, a son of the late Earl Otis Byrd, Sr. and Blanche Bailey Byrd. He was a lifelong active member of Heritage Baptist Church, where he was a 50-year member of the church choir and was a humble servant of the Lord. He was a retired Insurance Agent. Mr. Byrd is survived by his wife, Clara L. Byrd; one daughter, Linda Phillips and husband Huey, of Mississippi; one son, Ronald Byrd and wife Kathy, of Johnson City, TN; one step daughter, Claudia Scott and husband Norman, of Jonesborough, TN; two step sons, Randy Humphries and wife Cathy, of Gray, TN and Steve Humphries and wife Kat, of Johnson City; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Byrd and wife Helen, of Johnson City; and three nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday evening, November 4, 2010 in the Heritage Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Dr. Reggie Weems officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Friday morning, November 5, 2010 in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be sent to the Tennessee Kidney Foundation, 2120 Crestmoor Road, Nashville, TN 37215. The family would like to say a special thanks to all the staff at the DaVita Dialysis Center. Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2001 Oakland Avenue, Johnson City, TN., 423-282-1521, is in charge of arrangements.
