Edith Irene Lane

Irene Lane, 98, 1501 Strawberry Lane, Johnson City died Sunday, August 13, 2006 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Lane was a native of Joplin, Missouri, lived in Tulsa, OK for sixty years and had lived in Johnson City since 1989. She was a daughter of the late Stephen Robert and Mabel Rose Underwood Briggs. She was a homemaker and a member of the Grandview Christian Church in Johnson City and the Harvard Avenue Christian Church in Tulsa. Mrs. Lane was a member of the D.A.R. and active in Garden Clubs in Tulsa where she was awarded many Blue Ribbons in Floral Arranging. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bert E. Lane in 1980. Survivors include: one sister, Thelma B. Mayfield of Johnson City; two nieces, Mignon M. Holben , with whom Mrs. Lane made her home in Johnson City and Judy Lane Hackworth of Dallas, TX; one nephew, Stephen Mayfield of Sumter, SC; several great nieces and great nephews also survive. The funeral service for Irene Lane will be conducted at 7 PM Thursday, August 17, 2006 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Officiating will be Mr. Frank Davis, Minister, Mr. John Marr, Minister and Mr. David Holben, Great Nephew. The interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, OK on Friday, August 18, 2006. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 PM Thursday in the funeral chapel prior to the service. Friends may also visit at the residence, 1501 Strawberry Lane, Johnson City at anytime.
