Edward C. Clawson, 81, of Johnson City, departed to his eternal rest,Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Edward C. Clawson, Sr. and Annie Bayless Clawson. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Noreen C. Minter in 1956 and a son, Ronnie B. Clawson in 2006. Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Lelia Freeman Clawson of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry Freeman and Jeane C. Clawson; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Harold D. Walser all of Johnson City; six grandchildren, Jonathan Walser, Joseph Walser and Angelina Clawson, all of Johnson City and Misty, Brian and Waylon Clawson, all of Greeneville; five great grandchildren, Gavin Laughren, Sarah, Karlie and Trey Walser and one foster great grandchild, Sabrina Jones. Rev. Clawson was a member of Fairhaven United Methodist Church. He was a former employee of TVA, Clinchfield Railroad and a retired United Methodist minister. He was a graduate of Jonesboro High School of Jonesborough, Tennessee; completed Ministerial Courses of Study at Emory University of Atlanta, Georgia; and was a graduate of Walters State Community College, Morristown, TN. Rev. Clawson served pastorates at Greendale Virginia, Abingdon District; Hendrons Chapel United Methodist Church, Knoxville District; Telford Circuit, Telford Tennessee; Ebenezer Circuit, Chuckey, Tennessee; Grace United Methodist Church, Erwin, Tennessee; Clear Springs Circuit, Limestone, Tennessee; and East Park United Methodist Church all of the Johnson City District. He served nine post retirement years as Chaplain at Asbury Center in Johnson City. Funeral services will be conducted at Morris-Baker Funeral Home on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. in the South Chapel under the direction of Dr. Charles Mattson and his longtime friend and brother in the ministry Rev. Mack Houston. Music will be provided by the Fairhaven Ladies Ensemble. A committal service is scheduled for Sunday, December 30, 2007 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pall bearers will be selected from members of his Sunday School Class. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. to leave in procession.
