Elizabeth Love Mccallister Wells

June 10, 1923 — August 23, 2020

Elizabeth M. Wells, age 97, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2020 at the Princeton Transitional Care and Assisted Living Facility in Johnson City, TN.

Mrs. Wells was born June 10, 1923 in Chilhowie, VA to the late Thomas A. McCallister, Sr. and Texie Love McCallister. She was the oldest of four children.

Mrs. Wells called Johnson City home for the majority of her life and was known and loved by many around the city. She made a career at ET&WNC Transportation Co. and retired after many years of service.

Mrs. Wells was an active member of First United Methodist. She had a servant’s heart and gave to those in need. Those closest to her will remember her for her sweet spirit and thoughtful gifts. She was a kind and loving woman who cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of sixty-six years, Jack H. Wells; her sister, Gladys M. Stokes; and brothers, John S. McCallister, Sr. and Thomas Albert McCallister, Jr.
She is survived by a niece, Karen M. Boatwright (Stanley) of Roanoke, VA; three nephews, John S. McCallister, Jr. (Donna) of Advance, NC, Thomas Keith Moore (Claudia) of Orlando, FL, and Kim D. Moore (Sherri) of Winter Springs, FL; and several great nieces and nephews.

A committal service will be conducted for Mrs. Wells at 11:00 AM on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. REverend Jodie Ihfe will officiate. Friends and family are asked to gather at the graveside by 10:50 AM. Those attending services for Mrs. Wells are asked to wear an appropriate facial covering and to adhere to social distancing practices, per current public health and safety recommendation.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church, 900 Spring St, Johnson City, TN 37604, or Tate’s Chapel, 105 Frazier Lane, Chilhowie, VA 24319.

The family would like to thank special neighbors, Don and Susan Hembree, the staff at Princeton Transitional Care and Assisted Living Facility and Avalon Hospice for their support.
