Ester Louise Copas

April 20, 1924 — March 11, 2009

Ester Louise Copas, age 84, Johnson City, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Copas was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. She was retired from the Johnson City School System and a member of East Park Methodist Church. She was a daughter of the late George Turner and Robbie Arwood Tucker Cox and was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Copas in 2003; one sister, Hazel Gross and three brothers, Elmer Tucker, James Tucker and Billy Tucker. Survivors include one son, Danny Copas, Greeneville; four daughters, Kay Combs and Connie Alley both of Johnson City, Elaine Bowers, Peachtree City, GA and Fay Ingram, Unicoi, TN; ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Mrs. Copas will be conducted at 7 pm Friday, March 13, 2009 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 10 am Saturday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bryan Combs, Jeris Ingram, C.J. Alley, Bob Alley, Sammy Combs and Darren Steel. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm Friday at the funeral home. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
