Psalms 73:24, Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Ethel Owens Saylor, 81, formerly of 717 East Maple Street, Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Asbury Place in Johnson City.She was a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Hugh and Mary Whittimore Owens. She lived most of her life in Johnson City.She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lee 'Crick'? Saylor, daughter, Beverly Saylor and maternal grandmother, Amanda 'Jackie'? Elmore Whittimore as well as two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include; two daughters, Annette S. Bryant and her husband Roger and Patricia Armstrong and her husband Roger all of Johnson City; four sons, Robert Saylor and his wife, Janet of Gray, Jimmy Saylor of Mountain City, Wesley Saylor of Johnson City, Larry Saylor and his wife Kim of Elizabethton; one sister, Mae Scalf of Johnson City; 17 Grandchildren, 17 great Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Ethel spent most of her life as a wife and mother, but had worked as a baker. She enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, as well as canning.e grew up in the Salvation Army faith but considered herself a Christian. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel, under the direction of Rev. Dan Case. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 until service time at 7:00 p.m. A committal service will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the U. S. National Cemetery at Mt. Home. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home to leave in procession by 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
