Eula Lee Phipps

Eula Lee Phipps, 96, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022, at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness.

Eula was born her loving parents Zack and Belvia South in Dickenson County and was raised in the Haysi, Virginia area.

Eula married her husband Silvester Phipps and they made a loving home together.

After living in Clintwood, Virginia for many years and working as a hairdresser there, Eula and Silvester retired and moved to Johnson City, Tennessee, to be closer to family. She was an accomplished quilter and seamstress. She made many beautiful dresses for her granddaughter!

She was a longtime member of Princeton Presbyterian Church in Johnson City.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by: her loving husband of 67 years, Silvester Phipps; two brothers, James and Jack South; and one sister, Elva Jaynes.

Those remaining to cherish the memory of Eula include: one son, Michael (Janet) Phipps of Abingdon, Virginia; one grandson, Matthew (Misty) Phipps of Richlands, Virginia; one granddaughter, LeeAnne (Brian) Schmid of Kernersville, North Carolina; one great-grandson, Bryson Schmid of Kernersville, North Carolina; one step great-granddaughter, Chelsea Redmond of Richlands, Virginia; and many special nieces and nephews.

A visitation service will be held from 11:30am to 12:30pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022 in the Dogwood Chapel at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 12:30pm.

A committal service will be held for Eula at 2:00pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
