Eula M. Alger

Eula M. Alger, 89, 1115 Cedar Place, died peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2006 at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a native of Oceana County, Michigan. Her parents were Judson and Eva (Norton) Dikeman. She had lived in Johnson City to be near her granddaughter, Melody, and her husband,Josh, since 2004. Mrs. Alger was of the Protestant faith. She was retired from Howmet Corporation in 1982 after nearly twenty-five years of service. Mrs. Alger was a licensed pilot with nearly sixty solo hours logged. She was a lover of all of nature?s beauty and was never without photographs of her eighteen great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald; her husband, George H. Alger, in 1989; a son, Douglas James Alger, in 1998; and five grandsons, Richard Alger, Thomas Alger, Jerry Alger, David Alger, and baby Dennis. Mrs. Alger is survived by a son, Richard George Alger, Muskegon, MI; five granddaughters, Sandra Alger, Grand Haven, MI, Cynthia Alger, Hiedi Heaton, Melody Bronold, MD, and her husband Joshua, Johnson City, TN, and Heather Alger, also of Grand Haven, MI; two grandsons, Lt. Col. Steve L. Alger, who is stationed at Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan, and Robert Alger. A funeral service for Eula Alger will be held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Lee Chapel of Lake Forest Cemetery, Grand Haven, MI. The Rev. Daniel Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, November 12, 2006 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at VanZantwick, Bartels & Kammeraad Funeral Home, Grand Haven.
