Eunice Busch

Eunice Street Busch, 91, of 117 Solomon Lane, Johnson City, died Monday, November 21, 2005 at her residence following an illness. She was a native of Prairie City, Oregon, daughter of the late, John E. and Sarah Hall Street. Eunice was married to James Wycliffe Busch on June 26, 1938. Her education was attained from Chaffee Junior College, Ontario, CA, June 1933 and University of California at Los Angeles, Bachelor of Education, June 1935 and in 1941 a Bachelor of Arts from Johnson Bible College. She taught first grade for 3 years, in Southern California, a founder and director of the Preschool at Mar Vista Christian Church, Mar Vista, CA, from 1951 to 1969. In 1969, she was called by the West Seattle Christian Church, Seattle, WA, to come and start a preschool and be the Director, from 1969 until 1986. The school has now grown from first grade through eighth grade. Eunice had a great love and devotion for working with children and to all the members of the church. Her work for the Lord was first choice. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband and supported him in his ministries form 1938 until 1986 when he retired. She worked alongside her husband in serving several Christian Churches in Colton, CA; Engelwood, TN; Mar Vista, CA; Seattle, WA and Vashon Island, WA. She was a dedicated and steadfast teacher setting forth Christian principles of Godly living. Her love came first in her career of teaching. Children were always on 'top' of her list and she loved them dearly. She was also a Sunday School teacher, all her adult life. She was a member of the Central Christian Church, Central Community, Johnson City, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Ann Busch and a sister, Elizabeth Harvey. Survivors include: her husband, James Wycliffe Busch of the home; two daughters, Leora (& Bob) Hendrix and Julie Buck all of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Michael (& Ramona) Hendirx, Chattanooga; Lisa (& Todd) Edmondson, Irvington, KY; Justin (& Maria) Buck of Powell; three great grandchildren, Solomon, Zephyr and Sullivan Hendrix; 9 nieces and 5 nephews; several great nieces and nephews. A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 noon Saturday, November 26, 2005 at the Central Church of Christ, under the direction of Mr. Todd Wolfe and Mr. Damon Edwards. The family will receive friends at the church at 11:00 a.m. until time of service at noon. Burial is to follow in the Hendrix - Range Family Cemetery in the Central Community. Memorials may be made in the form of contributions to: Mission Fund, at the Central Church of Christ, 137 Hopson Rd., Johnson City, TN 37601.
