Eva Kozel

June 18, 1910 — February 24, 2007

Eva Shelton Kozel, 96 ,of Johnson City died Saturday, February 24, 2007 in the Life Care Center of Gray. Mrs. Kozel was a native of Madison County, North Carolina and had lived for many years in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Manly and Martha Shelton. Mrs. Kozel is also preceded in death by her husband, Michael Kozel in 1998 and several siblings. She was a homemaker and worked as a timekeeper for the Steinson Aircraft Co. being one of the many women who worked in the industry in support of World War II. Mrs. Kozel attended the Calvary Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Survivors include: Special Friends, Lee and Jewell Harlan of Johnson City and Dr. C.W. and Sue Baskette of Gray; two brothers, Manly 'Jack' Shelton of Asheville, NC and Richard Shelton of Afton, TN; one Godson, Bobby Lee Gibbons, II of Nashville, TN. The funeral service for Eva Shelton Kozel will be conducted at 7 PM Tuesday, February 27, 2007 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. Dr. Jim Richter and Mr. Bobby Gibbons will officiate. The committal service will be conducted at 1 PM Wednesday in the Horse Creek Church of God Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 12:55 PM. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker North Chapel from 6 to 7 PM Tuesday prior to the service. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Nieces, Nephews and Sisters-in-law, Gene and Jean Tittle, Rob and Winona Fox, Dr. Jack and Sue Hay, Norman and Rita Fleenor, the caregivers at Station One and Administrative Staff at Life Care Center of Gray, Dr. Christopher Hemphill, Bobby and Jan Gibbons, and Lee and Donna Harlan.
