Eva Marie Babb

Eva Marie Babb, age 85, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013, in the NHC Healthcare Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Babb was a native of Unicoi County. She was the daughter of the late Geter Howell and Cora Lee Bennett Howell. In addition to her parents her husband of 59 years, Samuel R. Babb and one sister, Cleta Painter, preceded her in death. Mrs. Babb was employed as Office Manager and Bookkeeper for Orkin Exterminating/Rollins Inc. in the Johnson City/Bristol area for over forty years. She was a member of the Franklin Chapter of the American Business Womens Association. Mrs. Babb served as president of the Franklin Chapter of the ABWA in 1983 and 1992. She was also chosen as the chapters Women of the Year in 1983. Eva retired at the age of 70 to enjoy time with her husband. She loved animals and worked as a volunteer with the American Humane Society helping to rescue animals for many years. She took great pride in her family and enjoyed time spent with them. An avid basketball fan, she loved watching the Lady Volunteers and enjoyed describing her time as a 'bench warmer'? for Unicoi County High School womens basketball team. Eva was a member of the Central Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Sam Babb and wife Sandy; one daughter, Cathy Humphries and husband Randy; three sisters, Kate Campbell, Mayme Boyd and Georgia Bawgus; one brother, G.C. Howell and wife Helen, four grandchildren, Kristen Duncan and husband Thomas, Justin Humphries and wife Katie, Jeffery Babb and wife Samantha, and Sara Seeber and husband Terry; two step-grandchildren, Kara Brown and husband Jason, and Lindsey Childress; five great grandchildren, Parker Duncan, Gabe Duncan, Emma Grace Humphries, Katie Foster and Cole Babb; two step-great grandchildren, Madison Childress and Reagan Childress; two great great grandchildren, Emery Foster and Addyson Foster; several dear sister-in-laws and brother-in-law, nieces, and nephews. The funeral service for Mrs. Eva Marie Babb will be conducted at 6:30 P.M. Monday, August 5, 2013, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Pastor Richard Hilton will officiate. The entombment service will be conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
