Evelyn Adams

August 18, 1942 — December 31, 2006

Evelyn Carr Adams, age 64, of 185 Carr Cemetery Road, Johnson City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord and into the loving arms of all her family that had gone on before her on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Nancy Feathers Carr and the late Crockett L. Carr. Mrs. Adams was a Registered Nurse, a giving person and a loyal friend. Her life was all about helping others. She loved her church, Watauga Flats Church of God, and worked actively in it for many years. Always dedicated to the health and care of her patients, she worked as a nurse for 37 years of her life. She always showed compassion and was dedicated to her family, giving care to her ailing mother for many years. Most of all she wanted to serve Jesus and help others become Christians. Before retirement, Mrs. Adams had been employed by the office of Dr. John Platt and also JAMA Home Health Care. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by three brothers, Andrew Carr, Charles Carr and Billy Jack Carr and one sister, Elizabeth Cox. She is survived by her husband, James 'Jim' H. Adams; a sister Brenda Barnes and her husband Lee of Johnson City; two brothers, Jim Carr and his wife Judy of Johnson City and Tom Carr and his wife Martha of Jonesborough. Also, numerous nieces and nephews survive. Funeral services for Evelyn C. Adams will be held Wednesday, January 3rd at 1:00 PM at Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Rev. Estel Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 on Tuesday, January 2nd at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Carr Cemetery in Watauga Flats Community. Pallbearers will be Buster Cox, Mark Cox, Richard Carr, Jerry Carr, Ronnie Carr, Robbie McGuire, Kevin Garland, Timothy Cunningham, Harold Bishop. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Fawwaz I. Hamati, M.D.; Dr. James Evans, M.D.; Chris Kinley, P.A.C.; the nursing staff and assistants of 2500 wing of Johnson City Medical Center; Charles Carr, Jr. and George Feathers, Jr. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Watauga Flats Church of God building fund, 242 Watauga Flats Road, Johnson City, TN 37601.
