Flournoy E. Noy Montgomery

Flournoy E. 'Noy' Montgomery, age 57, of 1700 Tee Court, Johnson City, died Friday, October 21, 2005 following a lengthy illness. Noy was born in Pulaski, Tennessee, a son of Ann English Montgomery Gilbert, of Pulaski, TN, and the late Larry Montgomery, Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of Giles County High School in Pulaski. He served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1971 and then entered the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he received his undergraduate degree in 1973 and his Master?s of Science Degree in Social Work in 1975. After working as a social worker at the Dublin, GA VA Medical Center from 1977 to 1978, Noy moved to Johnson City and was employed as a social worker at the VA Medical Center, and also as Chief, Social Work Service, until his retirement in 2003. Noy will always be remembered by his colleagues and those he served as a most caring, compassionate individual. Noy was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and on various committees throughout the years. He had also been involved in various volunteer programs in the community. In addition to his mother, Noy is survived by: his wife, Alma King Montgomery, of the home; daughter, Ashley Montgomery, of Maryville, TN; one sister and brother-in-law, Simms and Rascoe Rhea, Selmer, TN; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry, Jr. and June Montgomery, of Pulaski, TN; several nieces and nephews; and two very special cousins, Penny Pace, of Birmingham, AL, and David Puckett, of Walland, TN.
