Floyd Raymond Atkins of Johnson City, died January 5, 2007 in Johnson City following a long illness. Born August 8, 1935 here in Johnson City, TN. He grew up and lived most of his life as a native of Johnson City. He also lived in various places. He served in the U. S. Army for 22 years. He was in Korea twice and served in the Vietnam War. He was a Master Sargent when he retired. He then worked for Mason-Dixon in Kingsport as a truck driver for 22 more years. He loved the people and the food at the Huddle House, Waffle House and Pennyman Diner. Thank you Waffle House, Pennyman and Huddle House. He was preceded in death by his mom, Anna Belle Conner Atkins, father, Neal Atkins and brother, Charles W. Atkins. Survivors include; his wife, Margie L. Briggs Atkins; two sons, Michael R. Atkins and Steve A. Atkins; a daughter, Janis L. White; a son in law Jack White; a daughter in law, Misty Jones Atkins; three adorable grandchildren, Heather Atkins, April Atkins and Brad Atkins and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service for Mr. Atkins will be conducted Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Chaplain Tom Willis will officiate. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Post # 3382 and the Tennessee National Guard of Kingsport. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 9:45 AM for these services.
