Frank Kenneth Dugger

Frank Kenneth 'Sam' Dugger, 101 Joy Drive, Johnson City, TN passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside at his residence on Tuesday, March 6, 2007. Mr. Dugger was a native of Old Butler before joining the U.S. Navy where he served in WW II and the Korean War. After twenty years, he returned to the area where he lived in Hampton, TN. He then resided in the Milligan College area for thirty-three years. Mr. Dugger worked as a salesman at Presnell Motors in Johnson City and Elizabethton for several years. Sam was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Elizabethton where he enjoyed serving on the Hospitality Committee for six years and assisting with the Meals on Wheels for three years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post # 9629 and the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch # 323 of Bluff City. Mr. Dugger was the son of the late Ellen Dugger. He was also preceded in death by: his first wife, Marie Blackburn Dugger; a sister, Faye Proffitt; a brother, Dallas 'Judd' Dugger; and a step-son, Captain Daniel Graybeal, who was killed in the Persian Gulf War. Survivors include: his wife of thirty-six years, Virginia Pickle Dugger of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Judy Dugger of Springville, Alabama; two step-sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Susan Graybeal of Elizabethton, and Rick Graybeal of Johnson City; three step-daughters and husbands, Sue and Bob Crawford of Gray, Ellen and Jerry Hamilton of Gray and Donna and Dennis Ledford of Gray; several step grandchildren, and great grandchildren; three special nephews, Richard Dugger and Kenneth Dugger both of Elizabethton and Robert Proffitt of Powhatan, VA. A graveside funeral service for Frank K. 'Sam' Dugger will be conducted on Friday, March 9, 2007 at 11 AM in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Rev. Tim Tapp will officiate. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the VFW Post 3382 and the Tennessee National Guard of Kingsport. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 10:30 AM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6 to 8 PM Thursday. Friends may also visit at the residence. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Men?s Sunday School Class from Immanuel Baptist Church, Ralph Gardner, Louis Blevins and James Little. To those who desire, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church, Building Fund, 205 Hunter Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643 or to the Captain Daniel Graybeal Memorial Scholarship Fund.
