Gearleen Friesland

Gearleen Friesland, 87, Johnson City, died Friday, November 13, 2009 at NHC Healthcare. Mrs. Friesland was a native and lifelong resident of Watauga, TN. She was a daughter of the late William Henry and Lilly Humphrey Carr and was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Worth Friesland in 1978, and infant daughter, Peggy Friesland, three brothers, James A. Carr, E.T. Carr and Robert Carr and her twin sister, Clara Lee Bare. Mrs. Friesland was a member of Brookmeade Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Ted W. Friesland and his wife, Sandy, Sachse, TX; two daughters, Phyllis Taylor and her husband, Robert, Marion, NC and Cathy Vanhoy and her husband, Larry, Watauga; seven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Vivian Carr, Watauga and Bea Carr, Johnson City. The family of Mrs. Friesland will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 10:00 am Monday, November 16, 2009 from the funeral home North Chapel. Mr. Kevin Kay will officiate. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park.
