Geneva Duncan Feathers

Geneva Duncan Feathers, 95, completed her Earthly walk on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Cornerstone Village (Sherwood), surrounded by friends and family. She was born in Johnson City to the late David and Bertha Howell Duncan. Ms. Feathers was an office manager at Tennessee Motors in Johnson City for five years, and at Pepsi Cola in Johnson City for five years. Ms. Feathers eventually retired as a senior secretary from San Jose State University in CA after 20 years. After retirement, she and her husband, Walter, returned to Johnson City in 1994. Ms. Feathers resumed her membership at First Christian Church in Johnson City upon their return. She volunteered at the church for 2-4 years writing letters of encouragement to the bereaved, hospitalized and the terminally ill. She also wrote birthday greetings to members for five years. In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Walter M. Feathers, Jr. Survivors include: one sister-in-law, Betty Feathers, of Simi Valley, CA; four nieces, Joan Soderberg, of Big Canoe, GA, Judy Wiggins, of Big Canoe, GA, Margaret ?Peggy' Moro, of Simi Valley, CA; and Susan Arin, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; one nephew, Robert Feathers, of Simi Valley, CA; honorary daughters, Cynthia Millhorn, of Pacific Grove, CA, and Sue Layet, of Salem, OR; one goddaughter, Kathy Groseclose, of Charlotte, NC; a very special friend of many years, Kathy Harvey, of Montera, CA; and many other friends on both the East and West Coasts. Geneva was calling the shots until the very end. The family of Geneva Feathers will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 11:30 AM Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Morris Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM with Chaplain Jeff McNabb officiating. A committal service at Monte Vista Memorial Park will immediately follow the funeral service.
