George M. Haws, Jr.

George M. Haws, Jr., 76, 108 Joe Hale Drive, Gray passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at his home after a long illness. Mr. Haws was a native of Washington County who had lived all his life in Johnson City. He was the son of the late George M. Haws, Sr. and Mary Hammett Haws. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from the City of Johnson City Street Dept. with 31 ½ years of service. Survivors include: his wife of 54 years Elsie Myers Haws; one son, Michael G. Haws, of Schaumburg, Illinois; one daughter, Rena N. Haws, of Gray; one grandson, Wesley G. Haws, of Illinois; two granddaughters, Selena S. Haws, of Illinois and Cortney Turbyfield, of Gray. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 PM Friday, June 29, 2007 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Rev. Terry Wright will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Arc Kyle Myers, Brent Davis, Craig Christian, Terry Moffitt, Elmo Rush and Kenneth Loveless. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 PM Friday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 7:30 PM.
