George Ronald Blackwell

January 30, 1944 — April 17, 2013

George Ronald 'Ron'? Blackwell, 69, of Johnson City, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, April 17, 2013. He was a native of Johnson City and had lived most of his life here. Ron was the son of Herbert Francis of West Jefferson, NC and the late Marie Blackwell and step-father Clifton Blackwell. In addition to his mother and step-father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Alan Blackwell in 1990 and a sister-in-law, Karen Sneyd in 2007. He was a Christian and had attended the Trinity Baptist Church in Jonesborough. Ron retired from One Main Financial in 2010 after many years in the Finance Business. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, JoAnn Laws Blackwell of the home; one son and his wife, Lynn Blackwell and wife Tammy; three grandchildren, Kenny, Matthew and Moriah; two brothers-in-law, Gary Laws and wife, Becky and David Sneyd; three nephews Joshua and wife Amber Laws, Heath and Kelly Sneyd. A graveside service will be conducted in the Washington County Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 19, 2013 under the direction of Dr. Mark Harrod. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Friends may call at the home on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 12 noon until 7:00 pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to: Trinity Baptist Church, 260 Headtown Road, P O Box 99, Jonesborough, TN 37659 to the Building or Choir funds. The family would like to thank Weatherly Hall, Belinda Shelton and Sherry White for giving their help with such kind hearts, you will receive many blessings.
