George S. Tony Williams

December 27, 1927 — May 16, 2013

Mr. George S. 'Tony' Williams, age 85, of Johnson City, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, in the Appalachian Christian Village. Mr. Williams was a native of Newport. He was the son of the late Wesley Williams and Judith Sexton Williams. Mr. Williams was a 1945 graduate of Science Hill High School and a WWII U.S. Army veteran. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after forty-four years of service. He enjoyed gardening, golf and working in the yard. Survivors include his loving wife of forty-one years Judy Williams; one daughter, BethAnn Decker; one son, Robert Williams; two sisters, Julane Lowe and Betsy Lacy; two brothers, Jim Williams and his wife Barb and Brent Williams and his wife Dorothy; his beloved Beagle Holly. A memorial service for Mr. Tony Williams will be conducted at 4 PM Sunday, May 19, 2013, in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Dr. Ron Murray will officiate. The inurnment service will be conducted at 10:45 AM Monday in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. The VFW Post # 4933 and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military honors. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 10:15 AM Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 PM Sunday at Morris-Baker prior to the service. The family would like to thank everyone who reached out and helped over the years of Tonys illness, with special thanks to the friends who are more like family of Garland Acers subdivision; Kristi & Susan of Amedisys Home Health Care, Dr. Peter Caravello, Dr. Chris Downs, Ashley Seale PA-C, and everyone at Appalachian Christian Village. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The American Heart Association, 3101 Browns Mill Road #6, Johnson City, TN 37604, The Alzheimers Association, 207 North Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37604 and the Johnson City Animal shelter, 525 Sells Avenue, Johnson City, TN 37604.
