Georgia Cleota Baird

Georgia C. Baird, 88, of Johnson City, formerly of Berry Branch Road, Mountain City, TN died Friday, December 29, 2006 in the North Side Hospital in Johnson City. Mrs. Baird was a native of Ashe County, NC and lived most of her life in the Johnson City area. She was a daughter of the late Stillman and Lula Thomas Snyder. Mrs. Baird was retired from the Mountain City Glove Plant in 1996 and was a former worker at Leon-Ferenbach in Johnson City. She was a member of the Clinton Presbyterian Church in Mountain City. Mrs. Baird is preceded in death by: her parents; her former husband, Henry Clay Baird, Sr; infant son, Harlan Nelson Baird; a granddaughter, Melissa Shipley Slagle; two brothers, John and Earl Snyder; three sisters, Mary Snyder Trivette, Elizabeth Snyder Cook, and Josephine Snyder. Survivors include: two sons and wives, Thomas and Carolyn Baird of Johnson City, Henry Clay Baird, Jr and Patsy of Morristown, TN; three daughters and husbands, Reba Mast Freeman, Iva Nell and E.D. Saylor, Jewel and Baxter Shipley, all of Johnson City; four grandsons, Ronnie Baird, Dan Baird, Bryan Shipley, and Robert Shipley; seven granddaughters, Judy Mast Shoun, Barbara Mast Bodnar, Brenda Baird Jellicorse, Bonnie Mast Roope, Candace Baird Bishop, Joan Mast Doyle and Kim Mast Terry; one sister Edna Snyder Haga; twenty two great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral service for Georgia C. Baird will be conducted at 1:30 PM Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006 in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Rev. Kelver Mullins will officiate. Active pallbearers will be the grandsons. The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM prior to the service. The procession will leave Morris-Baker.
