Geraldine Shook

June 28, 1918 — March 11, 2007

Geraldine Shook, 88, 2016 Sherwood Drive, died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Appalachian Christian Village. Mrs. Shook was an El Campo, TX native, grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, and lived most of her life in Texas and California before moving to Johnson City in 1999. She was a daughter of the late Dr. Milton H. Chandler and Ethel Mae Bickley Chandler. Mrs. Shook taught at the Gary Job Corps Center in San Marcos, TX and also was a counselor and teacher at Austin Community College in Austin, TX. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Texas and a Masters in Counseling and Guidance from Southwest Texas State University. Mrs. Shook was a Methodist. Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Ellis and her husband, Mark, Johnson City; one son, Barry Shook and his wife, Gwen, Cleburne, TX; two grandsons, William Ellis, Johnson City, TN and Jed Shook, Waxahachie, TX; one granddaughter, Joy Griffin, Arlington, TX; two great grandchildren, Madigan and Nicholas Shook; one sister, Lucille Driver, Kerrville, TX and two brothers, Donald Chandler, Kerrville, TX and Dr. Robert Chandler, Houston, TX. A committal service for Mrs. Shook will be held at 2:30 PM Thursday, March 15, 2007 from the Monte Vista Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Father Hal Hutchison will officiate. The family will receive friends in the mausoleum chapel from 1:30-2:30 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Molly Ivins Fund for Justice and Liberty, 125 Broad Street, 18th Floor, New York, NY 10004.
