Gladys Elvira Taylor

July 24, 1919 — August 21, 2005

Gladys E. Taylor, 86, of Spring Hill, Florida died Sunday at her residence. Mrs. Taylor was a native of Carter County, Tennessee, lived in Johnson City For many years, in Baltimore, Maryland for forty five years, and had resided in Florida for the past three years. She was a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Vanhuss, Sr and Florence Vest Vanhuss. Mrs. Taylor was a retired employee of Westinghouse Corporation in the electronics division in Glen Burnie, Maryland. She was a member of the East Pine Grove Park United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by: one son, Gary Taylor; two brothers, Frank Vanhuss and William 'Bill' Vanhuss; one sister, Shelby Jean Vanhuss. Survivors include: two sons, Benjamin Fred Taylor of Inverness, FL and Douglas Steven Taylor of Pensacola ,FL.; two brothers, Wallace Calvert Vanhuss of Elizabethton and Wayne Vanhuss of Johnson City; five sisters, Helen Hensley and Josephine Berry both of Johnson City, Mary Kathryn Morgan of Columbus, GA, Peggy Shell of Knoxville, and Ruth Kearney of Spring Hill, FL; two grandsons, Ryan Taylor and Shawn Taylor both of Glen Burnie, MD; one granddaughter, Sydney Taylor of Pensacola ,FL; one great grandson .Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Gladys E. Taylor will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, August 25, 2005 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Lon Tobin will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Chaplain Chuck Merkle and Winsome Jones. The graveside service will be conducted at 10 AM Friday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 9:55 AM. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Thursday prior to the service. The family of Mrs Taylor would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the Hernando-Pasco Hospice for their loving care and concern.
