Glen Graton Laws

Glen G. Laws, 91, of Johnson City, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the V. A. Medical Center at Mountain Home.He was a native of Elk Park, NC and a son of the late James David and Sara Elizabeth Owens Laws. He had lived in Johnson City since he was 5 years old. Mr. Laws was a member of the Harrison Christian Church in Johnson City. He retired from Eastman Chemical Co. in 1983 with 42 years of service. At retirement he was a foreman in the Organic Chemical Department. He was a U. S. Marine Corp. veteran having served in WW II in the South Pacific. Survivors include; his wife of 65 years, Violet Paul Laws; two sons, David Laws and his wife Kay of Hoschton, GA and Phillip Keith Laws of Johnson City; one brother, Lonnie Laws; one sister, Norma McKinney; five grandchildren, Dylan, Avery and Tyler Riddle all of Jonesborough, Carley Melin and her husband Danny of Clermont, GA and Hillary Beaulieu and her husband Sean of Hoschton, GA; three great grandchildren Jonah, Huxton and Eli Melin; two sisters in law, Jean Hughes and Mildred Leonard both of Johnson City; one brother in law, Odell Paul of Sweetwater, TN; Several nieces and nephews; a special niece and her husband, Sheri and Whitney Riddle of Jonesborough. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Mr. Paul Helpinstine, Mr. Ryan Allcott and Mr. Lowell Haan will officiate. Burial services will be held in the Monte Vista Memorial Park at 1:00 pm on Wednesday. A procession will leave the funeral home for the cemetery at 12:45 pm on Wednesday. Active pallbearers will be Tyler Riddle, Dylan Riddle, Whitney Riddle, Joe Snyder, Lowell Haun, Jim Sells and Jan Wilcox. Bob Hawkins will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 until 7:30 pm on Tuesday.
