Harry L. Gouge

April 24, 1922 — March 26, 2019

Harry L. Gouge, 96, Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at The Waters of Johnson City. Harry was born in Bakersville, NC to the late L.N. and Bessie Gouge. Harry retired as the owner and operator of Harry Gouge Construction after 30 years. He was a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church in Johnson City. Harry loved golfing and working in his yard, until his health no longer allowed. Harry was also a fan of NASCAR. Harry will be remembered as a very loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by: his wife of 72 years, Vista Gouge; four brothers, Thomas, Bill, Lawrence and Fred Gouge; and three sisters, Lucy Davis, Rosa Marler and Daisy Harrell. Survivors include: one daughter, Pat Livingston and her husband Mike, of Unicoi; one granddaughter, Lisa Powell and her husband Jay, of Birmingham, AL; one grandson, Jeff Burleson and his wife Debbie, of Alpharetta, GA; two great grandchildren, Sean and Sara Burleson, of Alpharetta, GA; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Harry Gouge will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1:30 with Rev. Garry Edwards officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers include Sean and Sara Burleson. The committal service will be held at Roselawn Memory Gardens, in the mausoleum chapel, immediately following the funeral. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pinecrest Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2129 Old Lewis Rd., Johnson City, TN 37601.
