Harvey David Jackson, Sr. (Dave) age 75, of 1002 Clover Circle, Johnson City died Saturday, November 18, 2006 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Jackson was a native of Hampton, TN and had resided in Johnson City most of his life. He was a son of the late James Sherman Jackson and Hazel Estep Jackson of Johnson City. Mr. Jackson served in the U.S. Army in Korea and in the National Guard. He retired in 1991 with 38 years of service. Mr. Jackson was a member of the Church of Jesus where he served as a member of the Deacon Board and Assistant Sunday School Superintendent. Mr. Jackson was very active in the Masonic Order and had been a member of the Rhea Lodge # 47 of Jonesborough from 1964 to 2006. He was the Worshipful Master of the Rhea Lodge # 47 in 1972.He was the secretary of the Rhea Lodge # 47 from 1973 to 2005.He was a member of the Washington Chapter # 21 and served as the High Priest from 1973 to 1974. He was a member of the Jericho Shrine, a member of the B.E. Wooten Council # 119 and was Illustrious Master of the B.E. Wooten Council in 1992. Mr. Jackson was Grand Sword Bearer of the Grand Lodge of Tennessee in 1987. He was Grand Royal Arch Captain of the Grand Chapter of Tennessee in 1995. He was K Y C H Of the York Rite . He was a member of the Knoxville Scottish Rite from 1967 to 2006. He was a 32nd Degree KCCH of the Knoxville Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Northeast Tennessee York Rite College. He was Deputy Governor of the York Rite in 2004. He was a member of the Royal Order of Scotland from 1986 to 2006. He was a Kentucky Colonel. He received the Order of the Purple Cross in 2006. Mr. Jackson was a 32nd Degree Mason. Survivors other then his mother include: his wife, Frances Jackson of the home; three daughters, Debby Jackson Vaughn of Johnson City, Mary Lou Jackson Banks and her husband Dave of Rock Hill, SC, Treva Jackson of Charlottesville, VA; one son, Harvey David Jackson, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Debbie of Knoxville ; two sisters and brothers-in- law, Barbara and Dean Hamilton of Gray, Joyce and C.M. Woodby of Johnson City; one brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Ruby Jackson of Savannah, GA. Six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Harvey David Jackson, Sr, (Dave) will be conducted at 8 PM Tuesday, November 21, 2006 in the Church of Jesus, 809 W. Main Street, Johnson City. Pastor George Hall will officiate. Music will be under the direction of David Francis. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at the church prior to the service. A Masonic Graveside Service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday in the Roselawn Memorial Park with the Rhea Lodge # 47 conducting that service. Everyone will meet at the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Bill Thompson, Richard Caldwell, Charles Lanham, Joseph McQueen, Robert Lee Shelton, Kenneth Byrd, Jack White and Harold Morrison. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Rhea Lodge # 47 of Jonesborough, members of the Church of Jesus, and brothers-in-law, James Hall and Russell Hall. Memorial gifts may be made in honor of Mr. Jackson to the Church of Jesus, 809 W. Main Street, Johnson City, TN 37601
