Hattie G. Webb

November 23, 1926 — December 6, 2007

Hattie G. Webb, age 81, 146 Park Drive, Johnson City, died Thursday, December 6, 2007, at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina and the daughter of the late John Garrett and Cartie Ebbs Gardner. In addition to being a homemaker, Mrs. Webb co-owned Webbs Gemstones with her late husband, Clyde D. Webb. She was the beloved wife and mother to her three children who focused her life upon her family. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Johnson City, where she was a member of the Esther Sunday School Class and a former teacher of the Sunbeams Class. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Webb was preceded in death by one son, John C. Webb, and one grandson, Lee Hilton. Survivors include: two daughters, Sandra Kay Webb Cox, Gray, and Phyllis Annie DeHart, Charlotte; brother, Caulie Peek, Asheville; two sisters, Ruth Peek and Evelyn Coates, both of Asheville; four grandsons, Jason Erick Hilton, Charlotte, Thomas Wes Cox, Johnathan Michael Webb, and Shawn Craig Webb, all of Johnson City; one granddaughter, Katharine Julie Cox, Johnson City; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Wesley Cox and Dylan Thomas Cox, both of Johnson City, and John Erick Hilton, Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Mrs. Webb will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Dr. Ron Murray will officiate. Pallbearers will be: Jason Hilton, Wes Cox, Walt DeHart, Tom Cox, Shawn Webb, and Johnathan Webb. Honorary pallbearers will be: David Gillin, Jim Hill, Ambers Wilson, Jr., Bill Wilson, Ward Odom, Dr. Rod Biosca, and Dr. Paul Brown. Following the funeral service, family and friends will proceed to Monte Vista Burial Park for committal services. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service at Morris-Baker.
