Hazel B. Myers

September 29, 1921 — March 25, 2008

Hazel B. Myers, 86, 1809 Broadmoor Road, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Northside Hospital. Mrs. Myers was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. She was a daughter of the late Lode. E. and Effie Townsend Dykes. She was a loving wife to her husband, Walter Myers, married 64 years and was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Gail Myers and Norma Myers Riddle. She also leaves one sister, Mary Grindstaff, Elizabethton and twenty ''six nieces and nephews. Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Richard Myers; eight brothers, Ray, Oscar, Wilbert, Lawrence, Clawson, Sherman 'Tinse'?, Clyde and Cecil Dykes and three sisters, Stella Hodges, Elma and Thelma Dykes and eleven nieces and nephews. She was a retired employee of Parks Belk and a former employee of Peoples Drug Store, Youngs Supply, Hospital Pharmacy, Kings Department Store and Britts Department Store. Mrs. Myers was a member of North Johnson City Baptist Church and had been active in the nurseries and Sunday school classes at Temple Baptist, Unaka Avenue Baptist, Guaranda Drive Baptist and North Johnson City Baptist Churches. A funeral service for Mrs. Myers will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, March 27, 2008 from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Reverend Paul Ritchie and Reverend Steve Burleson will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Friday, March 28, 2008 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. The family expresses a special thanks to the caregivers and nursing staff of Northside Hospital.
