Hazel E. Willis, 92, 507 Pardee Street, Johnson City died Saturday, July 29, 2006 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Willis was a native of Caldwell County, N.C. and had lived most of her life in Johnson City. She was a daughter of the late Bryson and Emma Auton Land. Mrs. Willis was a retired employee of Klopman Mills with thirty-three years of service. She was a member of the Johnson City Church of God and active in the Johnson City Senior Citizen?s. Mrs. Willis is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Luther Willis in 1980; six brothers and three sisters. Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Ruth Ann Willis of Gray; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and James Berry of Piney Flats; two sisters, Hallie Campbell and Bessie Cole, both of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Jonathan Willis of Johnson City, Mike Berry of Piney Flats, and Pamela Bays of Johnson City; four great grandchildren, Nathan Bays, Chris Berry, Andy Berry, and Mary Bays; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Hazel E. Willis will be conducted at 8 PM Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at the Johnson City Church of God. Rev. Bryant Collins and Rev. Steve Quinn will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday prior to the service. Friends may also visit at the residence of the son John W. Willis, 208 Pickens Bridge Road, Gray or the daughter, Betty Berry, 6476 Highway 11E, Piney Flats at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 10:30 AM Wednesday to go in procession. Active pallbearers will be Mike Berry, Chris Berry, Andy Berry, Nathan Bays, Bill Bays, and Jonathan Willis. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Case, Rodney Farrington, Tony Carter, Manuel Hodge, and W.A. Jones. Mrs. Willis will be taken to the church at 5 PM Tuesday for the visitation and service.
