Hazel Violet Bailey

January 22, 1924 — May 3, 2007

Hazel Violet Loveless Bailey passed away Thursday May 3 at Wellington Place, Johnson City. Hazel was a graduate of Science Hill High School and was a homemaker. SheAttended Midway Baptist Church and was a member there for close to 60 years. SheEnjoyed living at Wellington Place and participated in all the activities and trips. SheEnjoyed playing bingo, listening to music and going to church services on Sunday. She loved everyone there and they loved her. Hazel was the mother of six children and loved gardening from roses to okra and loved canning all of her vegetables to support her family through the winter.Hazel was well known for her baking and cooking. She made biscuits every morning and homemade breads. She was known for her flaky pie crust and the wonderful fillings of Lemon, coconut, chocolate and egg custard. The family favorite was red velvet cake along with divinity and fudge. She was a great inspiration in the kitchen and encouraged her children to learn to cook and appreciate the hard work that goes into preparing a meal and the pride of watching others enjoy what you have prepared. We will never forget her influence in our lives and her sacrifices for her children and her belief in Jesus. She wasOur rock of salvation and along with her steadfast love we were able to live through the tough times of our lives.Hazel was preceeded in death by her parents, William and Della Loveless, a sister, Holly,A daughter Carolyn Ann Cunningham and her husband of 62 years Carl Bailey. She is survived by three daughters and two sons. Priscilla Huffine and Helen Savant of Jonesborough, Teresa Parker of Kingsport, Ronnie Bailey of Belt Buckle, TN and Jerry Bailey of Johnson City. She had 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Entombment services will be conducted at 3:00PM at the Monte Vista Mausoleum Chapel on Saturday May 5, 2007. Rev. Bill Taylor will officiate. Entombment will follow the service. The family will receive friends at the Monte Vista Mausoleum Chapel at 2:00 PM until the service time at 3:00 PM.
