Helen Maltsberger Mcdaniel

September 12, 1930 — March 22, 2012

Mrs. Helen Maltsberger McDaniel, age of Johnson City, passed away, Thursday, March 22, 2012 in the NHC Healthcare. Mrs. McDaniel was a native of Greene County. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Dover Maltsberger and Iva Oleta Smith Maltsberger. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Kenneth L. McDaniel; one brother, Basil Maltsberger. Mrs. McDaniel was a 1947 graduate of Doak High School in Tusculum, Tn. She always enjoyed office work and began her career at the FBI headquarters in Washington DC right after high school. She retired from Sears Roebuck in Johnson City. She was a member of Central Baptist Church where she was active in the Esther Sunday school class. Survivors include: a nephew, Randy Maltsberger of Knoxville; one niece, Glennis Bassi of McMinnville, Tn.; one sister-in-law, Selma Maltsberger; several cousins; special cousin, Pat Hankins and his wife Michelle of Greeneville; a host of friends including Patti Sparks Grant who has been a daughter to both Helen and her husband Kenny; and a granddaughter Rachele Sparks of Lexington, Kentucky. The funeral service for Mrs. Helen Maltsberger McDaniel will be conducted at 1 PM Monday, March 26, 2012 in the Central Baptist Church. Dr. Ron Murray will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Bob Frazier, Harry Harmon, Frank Hutchens, Tom Wilkinson, Bob Peebles and Jim Grant. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 PM Monday prior to the service.
