Ira Deal Daniels, Jr.

December 17, 1928 — February 27, 2012

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Ira 'Strawberry'? Daniels, Jr. of Johnson City, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2012 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital. He was a native of Jonesborough and was a son of the late Ira Deal Daniels, Sr. and Anna Gray Daniels Huprich. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Inell Waltzer and Ella Oliver. He was a member of Grace Fellowship Church. Mr. Daniels retired from the U. S. Postal Service and was a veteran having served in the U. S. Air Force. Survivors include; his wife, Betty Hayes Daniels; two sons, Ira 'Bo'? Daniels, III and Jay 'Pat'? Daniels both of Johnson City; two daughters, Joy Lynn Daniels and Deborah Hall and her husband Gary all of Johnson City; three Grand daughters, Brandy Daniels and her fiancée Aaron, Shanna Lankford and her husband Joseph and their son, Thomas all of Johnson City and Skylar Daniels of North Carolina; two sisters, Virginia Roark of Johnson City and Barbara Shell of Georgia; several nieces and nephews. A very special thanks is given to his Granddaughter, Brandy Daniels and her fiancée Aaron Cox as they cared for Mr. Daniels.Services will be conducted at 7:00 pm Thursday, March 1, 2012 from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Tom Oyler will officiate. Burial services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday from the Mt. Home National Cemetery. Military Honors will be observed at the graveside. A procession will leave the funeral home for the cemetery at 1:30 pm Friday. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Burgin Dossett, Judge Bob Cupp, Bob Pakrul, Gary Hall and friends of Bill W. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to, Bucks for Bo, P. O. Box 3245, Johnson City, TN 37602 or to your favorite charity. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Thursday and other times friends may call at his daughters, Deborah Hall, 193 Pickens Bridge Rd., Johnson City.
