Iradia Odom Hyatt, 82, 2508 Park Avenue, Johnson City, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at the NHC Healthcare Center following an illness. Mrs. Hyatt was a Mitchell County, North Carolina, native who had lived in Johnson City since 1941. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Sam and Levi Green Odom. Mrs. Hyatt was a homemaker. She was a member of Odom?s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, one brother, Winslow Odom, preceded Mrs. Hyatt in death. Survivors include: her husband, George F. Hyatt, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Labon & Debbie Sparks, Bristol, TN; three step-sons and two step-daughters, Ronnie, Danny, Donnie, Kitty and Anna; five brothers, Arnold, Raymond, and Cordell Odom, all of Buladean, NC, Carmel Odom, of Johnson City, and Sam Odom, Louisiana; one sister, Genevieve Odom, Buladean; two grandsons, Tommy Sparks, and his wife, Tracie, and Sam Sparks, all of Bristol; two great grandchildren, Stephanie and Justin Sparks, of Bristol; 33 step grandchildren; and numerous step great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Hyatt will be conducted at 8:00 PM Thursday from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Phillips and Rev. Roger Hughes will officiate. Committal services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Friday in the Combs Cemetery, Austin Springs. Grandsons and nephews will serve as active pallbearers. William Sutphin will serve as honorary pallbearer. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:00 AM Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
