Irene Cantrell Lacey

January 24, 1920 — March 4, 2008

Irene Cantrell Lacey, 88, 145 Hilltop Drive, Fall Branch, formerly of Gray died Tuesday March 4, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Lacey was a native of Sparta, Tennessee who had lived in Washington County since she was a young girl. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Julia Lack Cantrell. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Lawrence 'Bud'? Lacey in 1994; one daughter, Sheila Wilson in 2005; one grandson, Greg Garst; one son-in-law, Darrell Smith; twin great grandsons, Sam and Will Bach. She was a homemaker who was an active member of the Kingsport Church of Christ and an Avon rep for 15 years. Survivors include: three daughters, Nina Smith, of Nashville, Mavis Haga and her husband David, of Fall Branch and Linda Garst, of Johnson City; one son-in-law, Jerry Wilson, of Gray; one sister, Callie Clouse, of Jonesborough; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral services for Irene Cantrell Lacey will be conducted at 7:30 PM Thursday, March 6, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Minister Phillip Mullins will officiate. The committal service will be Friday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 5 to 7:30 PM Thursday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the ministry of Alan Piner or American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Road, Johnson City, Tn 37601.
