Irene Henderson Whetsell

Irene Henderson Whetsell, age 90, 108 Robin Road, Jonesborough, Tennessee, died Monday, September 19, 2005 at her residence. She was a native of London, England, and the daughter of the late James Hamilton and Ruby Jones Henderson. Mrs. Whetsell resided in the United States after World War II, living in Sullivan County until 1974 when she moved to Jonesborough. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Whetsell worked as a stenographer in the Social Services Department of the VA Hospital at Mountain Home. She was a member of Eden United Methodist Church. Mrs. Whetsell was preceded in death by her sister, Irma Hill, who had resided in England. Survivors include: her daughter, Jean W. Graybeal, of Jonesborough; one granddaughter, Ashley Irene Graybeal, of Jonesborough; one niece, Pauline Moon, of Hastings, England; one nephew, Alan Hill, of Hastings, England; three special friends, Eunice Caroline Deel, of Johnson City, and Joan Bell Ruislip, of England and Pauline Barnett, of Jonesborough. The family of Mrs. Whetsell will receive friends at Morris-Baker from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday, September 26, 2005 and at other times at the residence. A memorial service will follow at 8:00 PM at Morris-Baker. Rev. Clyde Hester will officiate. A committal service will be conducted Tuesday, September 27,2005 at 11:00 am in the Eden United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family and friends are ask to meet at the Cemetery.
