Irene Miller, 84, of Johnson City, died Sunday, July 10, 2005, at the residence of her sister. She was a daughter of the late Albert J. and Sarah Barnett Whitehead. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Florian Paris 'Bud' Miller; and by one son, David Kent Miller; one brother, Arthur Whitehead; and one granddaughter, Evelyn Thomas. Mrs. Miller was a native of Carter County, but had lived in Washington County most of her life. She was a member of the Berea Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Miller was voted the Tennessee Mother of the Year in 1971. Survivors include one daughter, Delores Ann Street and her husband, Fred, of Bakersville, NC; three sisters, Vestene Stinson, Mittie Huffine and Mary Ruth McKee, all of Johnson City; one brother, Ed Whitehead of Johnson City; five grandchildren, Florian Street, Sara Ledford and Paula Street, all of Bakersville, and Florence Street and Dot Hughes, both of Johnson City; four great-grandchildren, Stephanie Thomas Jones, Austin, and Trent Street and Kyle Ledford, all of Bakersville. A funeral service has been scheduled for 8:00 PM Tuesday from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Jerry Stout, Rev Allen Thomas and Rev. Harold McNabb will officiate. Music will be conducted by Gregory Hill and Gywn Dugger. Burial services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday from the Union Church of Christ Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Barnett, Freddie Barnett, Ronald Barnett, Donald Barnett, James Barnett and Jon Ledford. The family and friends will meet at the cemetery for graveside services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday and other times at the residence of a sister, Mittie Huffine, 2017 Cherokee Rd., Johnson City.
