Jack Edwin White

Mr. Jack Edwin White, age 81, of Johnson City, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 in the NHC Healthcare. Mr. White was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was the son of the late Oliver Craig White and Lucy Elizabeth Scott White. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Frank White, O.C. White and Dean White; two sisters, Thelma Loggans and Mary Davis. Mr. White was Chief Warrant Officer for the Army National Guard. He attended the Otterbein United Methodist Church. He was a 33rd Degree Mason and a member of the Rhea Lodge # 47 of Jonesborough. He also was a member of the Shrine Club. Survivors include; his wife of sixty-two years, Jerry White of the home; two sons, Brian White and his wife Melodie of Travelers Rest, South Carolina and Chris White and his wife Jodi of Franklin, Tennessee; one daughter, Vikki Showman and her husband Charles of Johnson City; one brother, Phil White and his wife Jean of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Emily White of Franklin, Tennessee, Andrew White of Franklin, Tennessee, Daniel Showman and his wife Maria of Leesburg, Virginia and Matt Showman and his wife Leigh of Durham, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Mr. Jack Edwin White will be conducted at 10 AM Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Dr. Dennis Hamm will officiate. The graveside committal service will follow at 11 AM in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be members of the Rhea Lodge # 47 of Jonesborough. The Boone Dam Post # 4933 and the Tennessee National Guard will accord military honors. The family will receive friends from 9 AM to 10 AM Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Rhea Lodge # 47, 210 North 2nd Avenue, Jonesborough, Tn. 37659.
