Jack L.T. Thompson

August 17, 1925 — April 7, 2007

Saturday, April 7, 2007 in the North Side Hospital. Mr. Thompson was a native of Johnson City who had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a son of the late Charles Elmer and Ruby Kathleen Blevins Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II having served on the submarine USS Dace. He retired from the U.S. Navy Reserves in 1962. Mr. Thompson also retired in 1989 from the Mountain Home Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a chef after forty-five years of service. More currently Mr. Thompson was employed at the Washington County Detention Center as the supervising cook. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. He is preceded in death by : his parents; a son, Jack Thompson, Jr in 1990; and a brother, Bill Thompson and a sister, Louise White. Survivors include: his wife of sixty-six years Frances Dempsey Thompson of the home; a son, Peter Lacey Thompson of Johnson City; a grandson, Peter Lacey 'P.J.' Thompson of Johnson City; one sister, Shirley Morrison, of Johnson City; three brothers, James Thompson, Donald Thompson, and Luther Thompson, all of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service for Jack T.L. Thompson will be conducted at 8 PM Thursday, April 12, 2007 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Dr. Erwin L. Lueker will officiate. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 PM Friday in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Everyone will meet at Morris-Baker at 12:45PM Friday to go to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Military honors will be accorded by the VFW Post # 3382 and the Tennessee National Guard of Kinsport. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Thursday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 234 West F. Street, Elizabethton, Tn. 37643.
