James E. Jim Carden

December 28, 1927 — January 10, 2018

Mr. James E. ?Jim' Carden, 90, of Johnson City passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City and the son of the late Thomas B. and Martha Miller Carden. Jim retired from Caudle Homes after many years of service. He was well known and loved by everyone he met. After his retirement, Jim stayed busy baking cookies for church gatherings, friends, and the Dawn of Hope. This service earned him the beloved title of ?Cookie Man.' Jim served his country in both the Army and Navy. He was a lifelong member of Central Church of Christ, Johnson City. Mr. Carden was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Bea. Survivors include: son, James E. Carden, Jr., and his wife Sherry; two daughters, Susan C. Lyons, and her husband Michael, and Linda Carden Lamb; grandchildren, James E. Carden III, and his wife Kara; Randall Lyons, and his wife Amanda; Garrett Lyons, and his wife Leslie; Carden Lamb, and Kelsey Lamb; and great grandchildren, Ryan Carden, Sophia Carden, Corrie Lyons, Kylie Strickland, Carson Lyons, and Colt Lyons. The family of Jim Carden will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Tim Hall, minister, will officiate. Pallbearers will be selected from Jim?s many friends, family, and loved ones. Following the funeral service, family friends will proceed to Monte Vista Burial Park for graveside services. The family extends special thanks to Jim?s caregiver, Sue Murdock, for her wonderful care and Jim?s special friend, Marsha Dawson, for her constant care and support.
