James E. Yates

James E. 'Jim' Yates, 71, of 318 Clark Street, Johnson City, died Sunday, July 24, 2005 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Embreeville but had lived in Johnson City most of his life. He was a son of the late Hazel Yates Landers. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clifford and Rosey Yates. Mr. Yates was retired from Thomas Construction and had served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Clark Street Baptist Church. Survivors include; his wife, Jean Shepard Yates, four brothers, Gene Landers, Carmen Landers and his wife Linda all of Johnson City, Terry Landers and his wife Jeri of Huntsville, Ala. and Randy Landers and his wife, Carol of Cave Creek, AZ; three Aunts, Ruby O?dell, Elsie Riley and Betty Whaley all of Johnson City; three sisters in law, Judy Copeland and Dorothy Bowman of Johnson City and Betty Byrd and her husband, D. H. of Jonesborough; a special niece, Debbie Reagan of Johnson City and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 PM Tuesday from the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Mike Anglin will officiate. Burial will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday from Mountain Home National Cemetery where the family and friends will meet for services. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until time of service at eight. Pallbearers will be Bill Adams, Jeff Bowman, D. H. Byrd, Earl Yates, Terry Landers and Danny Riley. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenny Taylor, Roger Killen, Roger Cox and the Men of Clark Street Baptist Church.
