James Jacob Range, Ii

James Jacob Range, II, 94,of Johnson City, passed from this world Oct. 2, 2012. He was a son of the late Harry G. Sr., and Rita S. Range, James was a brother of the late, Eugenia Range Diller and Harry G. Range, Jr. He was a graduate of Duke University and University of Maryland Medical School. After Medical School he served in the U. S. Army Medical Corp in World War II. Subsequently he completed a Radiology Residency and then became affiliated with Dr. John and Walter Hankins ,later to become Mountain Empire Radiology. He was a member of Johnson City Medical Center from 1948 to 1989. He was a member of the Tennessee Radiologic Society of which he was President in 1963. He was a longstanding member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church. Among his activities were Boy Scouts of America in which he was Council President from 1964-1965. He was presented the Silver Beaver Award and was a James E. West fellow. He was President of United Way, a member of the boating safety board for Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency for the State of Tennessee. He enjoyed Power Squadron, cattle breeding, particulary the Chianina Breed and also raised AKC labordor retrivers and was co owner of Ripshin Kennels. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his beloved four sons. He was preceded in death by wives Betty Reasor Range and Estelle Davis Range also his son, James Davis Range. He is survived by sons, Harry Stanley Range and his wife, Annabella O. Range, John Neel Range and his wife, Carol Walker Range and Peter Garner Range and his wife Deborah L. Range and numerous grandchildren, a well beloved friend Gail and Gary Wiseman. Funeral services will be conducted in the Morris-Baker North Chapel at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 5, 2012. Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 pm on Friday. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Sequoyah Council of Boy Scouts of America or the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership.
