James Lyman Jimmy Patterson

James 'Jimmy'? Lyman Patterson, 80, of Johnson City passed away at the Lakebridge Health Care Nursing Facility Monday, March 03, 2014. He was the son of the late James Love and Eva Lee Johnson Patterson. He was born June 2, 1933 in Atlanta, Georgia. Jimmy retired from ETSU as a Sound and Light Technician at the University Center. He also worked at WJHL and WCYB. He was an active member of the Cherokee United Methodist Church, participated in the church choir and the Keepers Sunday School Class, spent 13 years in the National Guard, loved spending time with his grandchildren, enjoyed music and sang with the local Barber Shop Chorus for many years. He is survived by: wife, Bonnie Patterson '? the love of his life for 60 years ; children, Herb Patterson (Beth) of Chapel Hill, N.C., Pat Patterson (Debbie) of Johnson City, TN. and David Patterson (Sandra) of Keystone Heights, FL.; grandchildren, Abigail Patterson, Cristin Patterson, Matthew Patterson, Nathaniel Patterson and Shane Lancaster; sister-in-law, Carol Holler of Lenoir, N.C.; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Pete and Mary Shoun; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by: parents, James and Eva Patterson; granddaughter, Lauren Patterson. The Patterson family wish to give thanks to his caregivers at Lakebridge Health Care and a special thanks to Dr. Jeff Farrow and Dr. Kenneth Cutshall for their excellent care and concern. A Celebration of James L. Pattersons life will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Cherokee UMC 2615 S. Roan St. Johnson City, Tennessee. They will receive friends from 5:00pm '? 7:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 7:00pm. Because of his love for his church and his church family, the family requests any donations be made to the Cherokee UMC Worship Fund 2615 S. Roan St. JC, TN. 37604.
