James Neal Gibson

Mr. James 'Jim'? Neal Gibson, 81, Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Jim was a West Virginia native and a son of the late Harry and Myrtle Gibson. He lived in Johnson City for the past 25 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country on active duty from 1953 until 1955. Thereafter, serving in the Army active reserve. Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Hescht Gibson, of the home; three children, Mark Gibson (Elizabeth), of Johnson City, Kim Sprague (Kent) of Mount Dora, FL, and Vicki Judy (Shawn), of Johnson City; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and a third on the way; one brother, Harry Gibson (Emma), of Winter Park, FL; and several nieces and nephews. The family of Mr. Jim Gibson will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm Friday, August 15, 2014 in the Morris-Baker North Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm Friday in the North Chapel. Dr. Allen Davis and Rev. Reed Mullins will officiate. A committal service is scheduled for 11 am Saturday, August 16, 2014 in the Washington County Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Pallbearers will be: Kent Sprague, Shawn Judy, Kyle Gibson, Cody Sprague, Jacob Sprague, and Jordan Sprague. Ministers, family, and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 10:15 am Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery for those services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Piney Flats First Baptist Church, Christian Life Center, 100 Cherry Street, Piney Flats, TN 37686. (423) 538-8304
