James W. Jim Crow

September 30, 1928 — March 15, 2015

Mr. James 'Jim'? W. Crow, 86, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015, in the James H. Quillen VA Nursing Home. Mr. Crow was a native of Carter County. He was the son of the late Earnest and Maybelle Barnett Crow. Mr. Crow proudly served his country in the US Army. He served during the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War and was awarded two purple hearts. He retired as a Sergeant First Class after more than twenty years of service. He was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, his sister, Jane Calhoun, and son, Billy Crow, preceded him in death. Survivors include: four brothers, Howard Crow, Alfred Crow, Carl Crow, and Harry Crow; four sisters, Marie Perry, Edith Keplinger, Florence Robinette, and Shirley Matheson; one son, James E. Crow; step-daughter, Cathy C. Dantzler; step-son, Thomas Allen; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to members of Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church for their prayers and visits. Thank you also to the caring staff at the James H. Quillen VA Nursing Home. The family of Mr. James 'Jim'? W. Crow will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow with Rev. Paul Crowe officiating. The graveside committal service will follow in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Jack Davis, Tom Allen, Ron Master, Terry McKee, Marcus Keller and Bobby Keller.
