James William Whitson

James William Whitson, 64, of 102 Poplar Hill Extended, died Thursday, September 15, 2005 at his residence following an illness. He was a native of Washington County, son of the late DeWitt and Mabel Arnett Whitson. A lifelong resident, he last worked for the Johnson City Medical Center in the laundry. Mr. Whitson was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include: three brothers, Willard Whitson of Elizabethton, Odell Whitson of Watauga and Billy Whitson of Jonesborough; three sisters, Myrtle Heaton, Beulah Dunavent and Phyllis Lewis all of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Rev. Richard Bawgus. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 16, 2005 at the Morris - Baker Funeral Home. The family and friends are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:25 a.m. to go to the cemetery in procession. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
