James Woodrow Crumley

July 20, 1918 — July 22, 2005

James W. 'Corky' Crumley, age 87 of 122 Markwood Circle, Jonesborough died Friday, July 22, 2005 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Johnson City and had resided all of his life in Washington County. Mr. Crumley was the son of the late George L. Crumley and the late Martha Nave Crumley Hatley. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cash Hollow Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and Sunday School teacher. He had taught the Young People?s Class and the Adult Class for 40 years. Mr. Crumley had owned and operated Crumley Grocery in Jonesborough for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Velva Pierce Crumley and infant son, his second wife Nora Driggers Crumley and a half brother, Billy Joe Hatley and a stepdaughter, Myrtle Elrod. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rose Marie Crumley, daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Larry Fish who are missionaries in Indonesia; two step-sons, Darryl Cretsinger and his wife Brenda of Johnson City; Jeff Larimer and his wife Mary Beth of Gray; one sister Louise Crumley Curtis of Johnson City; a half-sister, Sarah Walters and her husband, Don of Johnson City; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hatley of Cordova, Tennessee; three grand children; 7 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Crumley will be held at 8:00 PM Saturday from the Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel. Rev. Larry Fish will officiate. Family and friends will meet at 1:15 Sunday at Morris-Baker to go in procession to Monte Vista Memorial Park for a graveside service at 1:30 PM Pallbearers will be Travis Estepp, James Cox, Greg Cretsinger, Keith Cretsinger, Steve Tipton and Scott Neal. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
