Jean Bowers

Mrs. Jean Bowers, age 69, of Gray, passed away, Thursday, April 12, 2012 in the Franklin Woods Community Hospital. Mrs. Bowers was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. She was the daughter of the late J.C. Pierce and Mary Sue Ford Pierce. Mrs. Bowers was a homemaker and was a member of Harvest Time Baptist Church. Survivors include: her loving husband of fifty-two years, Rondal 'Shorty'? Bowers of the home; one son, Randy Bowers and his wife Toni of Piney Flats; one daughter, Pam Hurd and her husband Ben of Gray; one brother, Stoney Pierce of Elizabethton; two sisters, Wanda Hankal and her husband Jim of Johnson City and Ruth Mitchell and her husband Robert of Gray; one special granddaughter, Brandi Hurd; two special nieces, Jammie Pierce Cole and Ella Grace Cole; special friends, June Dutton, Carol Barker, Beverly Vaughan, Briona McCall, Brook McCall, Hayley Hawkins and Tammy Coomer. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at the Franklin Woods Community Hospital nursing staff and a very special thank you to Richard Squires from the Respiratory Therapy Department. The funeral service for Mrs. Jean Bowers will be conducted at 8 PM Saturday, April 14, 2012 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. Rev. Ron Adams, Pastor David Hankal and Mr. Ben Hurd will officiate. Harvest Time Baptist Church and Jammie Pierce Cole will provide music. The graveside committal service will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday in the Washington County Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Stoney Pierce, Kevin Dutton, Harold Coomer, Jim Hankal, Larry McCall, John Barker, Tony Bowers and Robbie Bowers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Harvest Time Baptist Church, Bill Dutton and Duane Dutton. Ministers, family and friends are requested to meet at the funeral home by 1:15 PM Sunday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Harvest Time Baptist Church, 209 E. Springbrook Drive, Johnson City, Tennessee 37601.
