Jennings William Clay

March 16, 1943 — July 10, 2013

Jennings W. Clay, age 70 years, went home to be with the Lord on July 10, 2013. He was born in Whitesville, West Virginia to Thomas and Lola Mae Clay. After graduating high school, he moved to Bridgeton, NJ and began working for Owens-Illinois. In 1965 he was drafted by the United States Army. During his service, he was stationed in Korea and earned the rank of SPEC 4. He also earned service medals for Expert Marksmanship and Superior Communications Expert. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to Bridgeton, NJ and continued working for Owens=Illinois until the plant closed in 1984. He then began working for Public Service Electric and Gas and retired from there in 2005. After his retirement, he moved to Tennessee. He enjoyed many hobbies and among his favorites were NASCAR racing, building and flying model airplanes, and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Margie Pauline Clay, three children, Avonda Clay, Nickole Hannah and her husband David, and Shenandoah Clay and his wife Cynthia. Four grandchildren, Taylor Gibbs, Joshua Horner, Shane Clay, and Abigail Clay. One great-grandchild, Zachery Horner. He was predeceased by a grandson, Jordan Horner. He is also survived by three sisters, Janith Clay, Jacqueline Plummer, and Juanetta Belcher. A special companion was his little dog, Foxy.
