Jessie Inez Lloyd

August 15, 1917 — December 4, 2008

Whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lords. Romans 14:8 Jessie Inez Lloyd, age 91, formerly of 210 West Poplar Street, Johnson City, died Thursday afternoon, December 4, 2008 at Appalachian Christian Village following complications of an illness of several years. Our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and friend, went to spend Eternity in Heaven.She was born in Danville, Virginia, August 15, 1917, but most of her life was spent in Johnson City where she met and married the love of her life, her surviving husband of 68 years, Horace Lloyd. Together they raised three children, Sharon Lloyd Willingham of Johnson City; Dwight Monroe Lloyd and Linda Lloyd of San Antonio, Texas and Rodney Keith Lloyd and Nita Lloyd, presently in ministry in South Africa. She was the loving Grandmother of six, Amy Elizabeth Willingham and special friend, Cindy Godwin, both of Johnson City; Minda Lloyd Nichols and husband Paul of Dublin, Georgia; Michael Lloyd and wife Nicole, of Los Angeles, California; Jason Lloyd, Jennifer Lloyd and James Lloyd, all of San Antonio, Texas. She also loved and cherished three Great Grandchildren, Peter Michael Nichols, Dublin, Georgia; John David Nichols, Dublin, Georgia and Lillianna Lloyd, San Antonio, Texas. Special nephew Gene Bulla and wife Sheila of Powder Springs, Georgia. She also leaves behind many friends, all of whom she loved and cared for deeply in such a special way. Inez was a devoted Christian from an early age. A member of Central Baptist Church until 1975, she was involved in various Sunday School Departments and organizations. A member of Cornerstone Church, where, for the past thirty-three years, she was a loyal member of that church and the Keenagers Sunday School Class. She was always willing to do whatever she was asked to do to help in the Church. She loved preparing food for everyone and always wanted to be sure that there was enough for everyone. She also was devoted to working in the nursery in earlier years. She spent many years working in various PTA organizations during her childrens years in school. Inez had a servants heart. She retired from Johnson City School System in 1990.The past seven months of her life were spent at Appalachian Christian Village Health Care, where she received constant love and care. Our special thanks go to the wonderful, dedicated staff at that facility. Special thanks also to Smokey Mountain Hospice for their care and ministry to InezCelebration of her life will be Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Morris-Baker Funeral Home South Chapel with Pastor Barry Burns officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until service time at 1:00. Graveside services and burial will follow the service at Monte Vista Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Cornerstone Church, 120 Cornerstone Dr., Johnson City, TN 37615; Memo Line: Inez Lloyd Hospitality Fund.
